America’s Sweetheart & The Bad Boy Biker

Since news of Sandra Bullock’s marital issues broke, many have scratched their heads. What brought these two together in the first place?

Credit Sandra’s love of children – she arranged a meeting with Jesse for her godson, who was enamored with the biker genius. Soon, so was Bullock.

Still, soul aside, how did a bright, funny, intense, talented, beautiful woman who’d shared time with Tate Donovan, Mathew McConaughey, and Ryan Gosling, cars I’d rate in the luxury sedan range, marry a flame-painted hot rod with plenty of bondo? It’s not like she couldn’t get hold of the CARFAX on that one…

The man was married to a porn star. Common sense says that Mr. James must have a slightly different attitude about monogamy than the norm. Perhaps it wasn’t critical to him, what I call a “must have.” That viewpoint obviously doesn’t align with Ms. Bullock’s, but he wouldn’t be alone in that thinking – after all, it wasn’t called Megan Wants to Marry a Monogamous Millionaire. Or he and his wife defined monogamy as: any sex outside the marriage unless it’s at work. (Taken from Bill Clinton’s Websters) Can you imagine the throngs that would no longer be cheaters given that meaning?

Whatever his rationale, the truth is Sandra Bullock got in the wrong car. She married a Bad Boy and now everyone is shocked when he acts like – a Bad Boy!

The reasons we choose the wrong car are as varied as we are, but Beverly Engel breaks us down into six types: The Selfless Woman, The Pleaser, The Sinner, The Codependent, The Drama Junkie, and The Victim or Martyr.  

I don’t know Ms. Bullock and my speculation about her would be pop-psychology gone awry. In a generalized analysis, however, the Good Girl / Bad Boy pairing is common place. Often it’s The Codependent who “has a pattern of getting involved with people whom she tries to rescue or take care of…” that fall prey to this scenario. Or it might be The Drama Junkie who gets bored easily, is unhappy with routine, is attracted to people with problems, a woman who thrives on chaos.

In the spotlight or not, if the Good Girl/Bad Boy pairing is creating havoc in your life,
